How to reach me:
Email: [email protected]
Google voicemail/Texting number: 508-591-KYER (5937)
...or come see me in person in B121! I arrive at school by 7:30 am and am usually around until at least 2:40. If I'm not in my classroom, check the World Languages Prep Room in the Language wing or by the copiers.
About me:
I came to teach at YHS in 2011 and I’m very excited to be back in Maine after teaching out of state for many years. I grew up in Old Town, Maine, and got a B.A. in French and German at the University of Maine in Orono, then I started moving south! I did my M.A. in German at the University of Delaware and my Ph.D. in German at Penn State. I have lived in Salzburg, Austria and in Kiel, Germany. I have taught German for the past 20 years, including at the College of Charleston and for the Fairfax County public schools in Virginia, but I think I've found the perfect fit here at York High School. I love being back in Maine and sharing the state with my husband and our two young sons. I have also enjoyed getting to know everyone at York High School and getting involved in some of the activities here. When I was in high school, I was in the Key Club, Chorus, National Honor Society, Amnesty International, Speech & Debate Team, and in lots and lots of plays, so if you’re performing, you never know if I might show up!
In addition to teaching and family, one of my biggest passions is writing. I write primarily poetry and children’s books. Although I haven’t yet been published, I’m still trying-- maybe someday you can say your German teacher is also a published children’s author! I also enjoy playing the piano, singing, cooking, playing online, playing games (card games, board games and RPGs), and of course, traveling to Germany and Austria!
